Glossy dark green leaves are deeply cut into bristlepointed lobes; leaves turn yellow, red, finally russet brown in fall, and many hang on in winter. Plant where its spread will not interfere with walks, drives or street traffic, or trim it often. It is a fine tree for lawns. Native to Eastern U.S.
